I am becoming a bit of a web-nerd. This whole new MissionAdventures.net web site has gotten me reading some really strange things. Most of it I can’t understand, but when I came across this article from the Über-nerdy SixRevisions.com, I read this shocking statistic:
Internet users don’t really read content online, at least according to a study by Dr. Nielsen on reading behaviors of people on his website. His analysis shows that people only read 28% of the text on a web page and decreased the more text there is on the page.
Thankfully, they have some tips:
To increase the likelihood of your readers getting the most out of your content, utilize techniques for making content easier to read. Highlight keywords, use headings, write short paragraphs, and utilize lists.
So I know I tend to go on and on… But I’m going to try to stop. Really. Oh, and this means you should too. Take a gander at your profile page on the MissionAdventures.net site. How much info on there never gets read? Make it shorter. Same goes for your outreaches.
When you get a chance, read 28% of the Six Revisions article here.
Turns out, short really is sweet.
