One of the things we do here in Salem is host a monthly coffee hour for youth pastors in our city. There is no agenda other than to hang out, drink coffee, laugh, make fun of each other, and pray for each other. In my opinion, this is the most dynamic part of our program, and yet it is the simplest thing we do. Kind of goes in line with the new 2012 theme “The Basics”. Stick to the simple things guys. Build relationships. One youth pastor here has taken in a foster kid and needs prayer. Another is struggling with apathetic youth. Another is getting engaged this week and needs some nerves calmed. Another is hosting a yearly retreat with his youth and needs encouragement. We hear these stories over coffee, and we are allowed the privilege of being a part of the lives of these pastors. When it comes to Mission Adventures, we have to realize relationships are the backbone of our ministry. Without backbone, we are program jellyfish. When you figure out what that means let me know because I am wondering what it means myself. I guess in the end it means this….keep it simple…build relationships with your local youth pastors….and Glorify Jesus in doing so. Peace out!
