What If Every Mission Adventures Leader Was Offered a Season of Mentoring?

In order to do this, we are creating a mentoring movement in the Network. We want you to mentor someone who then mentors someone else. Then they in turn mentor someone. Our intent is to have four generations of mentoring going on in our Network. In this way, we’ll continue to create leaders for Mission Adventures and even be able to see new MA ministries planted in new places.

In this section, we’ve got tons of resources to help you mentor. First we have an awesome Mission Adventures Mentoring Manual. It’s filled with practical advice, helpful ideas, and proven tips and tricks for you to become a world class mentor.

World Class Tools for Your Sessions

Each of these Mentoring Tools is a three page guide for you to help your mentee grow as a leader. Each includes good questions, ideas, resources and tools to help you and your mentee grow. You can use them in this order, or you can mix and match as you and your mentee decide what’s best.

A Must Read for MA Mentors

Several of our Tools are drawn from this essential book.

Ferguson and Bird get it. Their experience and wisdom is so useful for us. The five essential practices they describe in this book form the foundation of our mentoring framework. Not only that, but they are blessing us, encouraging us, and cheering us on. When I wrote to share with them what we were doing, and to seek permission to use their ideas, they not only blessed us, they said, “We’ve got more!” So here are links to more awesome resources so that you and your mentee can get the maximum. Normally, you’d need to buy a book to have access to these resources, but in our case, these Hero Makers are sharing them with us for free. (Of course, I want you to buy a copy of Hero Maker, because it will make you a better mentor… so click the “Go to Hero Maker” link above and get yourself a copy!)

This is the book that started it all… It’s chock full of inspiration and stories to help you invest your life into others. And Dr. Elmore’s ideas about creating a movement have significantly shaped our Network mentoring initiative. Check it out!

Check out Dr. Elmore’s blog. He posts each day on something relevant to raising up young leaders. Be sure to join his mailing list. His free eBook is well worth it!

And There’s More!

Mentor Like Jesus by Regi Campbell highlights a small group approach to mentorship. I particularly like how he limits the number of people he will take in the group. He also has very high expectations for his mentees, and this has proven to be a big part of his success.

Multiply by Francis Chan is a full on discipleship curriculum that you can read together with your mentee. It’s all about disciples making more disciples. He even has some very sweet online resources at his Multiply Movement site.

9 Weeks | 90 Minutes per Week | Wednesdays Beginning in June

Apply Now for the first ever Mission Adventures Mentoring Group.

It’s more than small group. It’s more than Bible study. This is a way for you to grow together with other like-minded Mission Adventures leaders. This isn’t only about developing skills, it’s about becoming the leader you want to be.

The group will be led by Craig McClurg, co-founder of the Mission Adventures Network. There will also be opportunities to learn from other first generation MA leaders too. This isn’t your run of the mill online class, this is group based mentorship. Registration will be limited, not all applicants are guaranteed a spot in this group.

A High Bar

Lots will be expected of you. First off, you’ll have to commit to all nine weeks and all ninety minutes per week. Second, there is a book to read and weekly homework to complete. You’ll be expected to be prepared for each session. And third, this is a “camera on” experience. We’ll do our best to overcome the distance and be as ‘face-to-face’ as possible with Zoom. Finally, once you complete the mentorship, you’ll be expected to recruit your own mentee and give to them what you’ve received.
